Recipe — Maple Croustade and Orchard Fruits

Ingredients

  • 2 cups orchard fruits (apples, pears, peaches, plums, etc.), peeled, seeded or cored and sliced
  • 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1/2 cup maple syrup

Crust

  • 2/3 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2/3 cup oatmeal flakes
  • 1/2 cup maple sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter at room temperature

Method

  1. Preheat oven to 180 °C (350 °F).
  2. In a buttered baking dish, combine the fruits, flour and spices.
  3. Add the maple syrup to the fruits. Set aside.
  4. Prepare the crust.
  5. In a bowl, mix the flour, the oatmeal, maple sugar and spices. Stir in the butter.
  6. Pour the oat mixture over the fruit and squeeze the preparation with the back of a spoon to even the surface.
  7. Bake in the center of oven for 40 to 50 minutes. Serve with ice cream.
