Recipe — Dumplings in Maple Syrup
4 portions
Metric Imperial

  • 1 1/2 cup maple syrup
  • 1/2 cup water

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon fine salt
  • 1 tablespoon cold butter in cubes
  • 1 cup milk

  1. Bring the syrup and water to the boil in a saucepan. In a bowl, combine the dry ingredients.
  2. Cut the butter into the flour in small pieces.
  3. Slowly add the milk and gently mix together with a fork. Drop spoonfuls of the dough into the syrup.
  4. It’s important not to overcrowd the pan so that each dumpling has room to expand.
  5. Lower the heat, cover and simmer for 15 to 20 minutes.

More about Maple

Maple syrup comes in four classifications, according to colour and taste.

At the start of sugaring season, syrup is generally clear, with a lightly sweet taste. It becomes darker and caramelized as the season goes on.

An unopened can of maple syrup keeps for many years.

Once the can is opened, syrup should be kept in an airtight container in a cool place.

100% pure maple butter contains no butter or dairy.

Like all 100% pure maple products, maple butter comes from the sap of the maple tree… and that’s all.
